Sarah Reimers, Director of the Student Assistance Program (SAP) in Philadelphia, Montgomery, and Delaware Counties, attended the PASAP Conference in Penn State from February 23 - 25. Sarah connected with intermediate units, school districts and educational professionals about how to provide prevention and mental health services through SAP to students in Pennsylvania.
Some of the seminars topics included working with youth in the digital age, key issues in school law, understanding vape and marijuana trends, restorative practive foundations, and educating teens on dating violence. Keysnote speaker, Gab Bonesso, shared her perspective of the positive impacts schools can have on students who are neurodivergent or have mental health challenges.
At a provider table, Sarah shared how valuable Merakey schools are across the State of Pennsylvania by helping students and families reduce barriers to education through supportive learning environments for those with autism and behavioral health needs.
