In recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day, we want to share this story from John Eliyas, Executive Director for Adult Behavioral Health Services in Pittsburgh.
“We have been having a difficult time getting replacement Narcan from our County Health Department due to high demand. Kloxxado nasal spray is the 8mg version of Narcan, which is a medicine that can save someone’s life if they are overdosing on opioids - whether it’s a prescription opioid, heroin, or drug-containing fentanyl.
We reached out to Hikma Pharmaceuticals and applied for a donation of Kloxxado. They generously donated 250 units (2 doses per unit) of Kloxxado, which will be distributed to Merakey’s Addiction Recovery Case Management programs, Community Treatment Teams, Assertive Community Treatment and Forensic ACT Teams, Blended Case Management programs, and the Long Term Structured Residences in Allegheny and Beaver Counties. These units of Kloxxado can save lives and will be a tremendous resource for our programs. We are so grateful to Hikma Pharmaceuticals for this incredible donation.”
