Dancing with the Cars
Merakey AVS individuals and staff had a fantastic time at Dancing with the Cars, the official kickoff event for the Pittsburgh International Auto Show. Serving as proud ambassadors for the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, Liz, Tony, Kenny (KK), Chris, Carl, and Eric helped reopen this special celebration, which hadn’t taken place since 2020.
The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix was also proud to once again partner with the Greater Pittsburgh Automobile Dealers Foundation as the charity partner for the evening. Together, this longstanding collaboration celebrates a shared passion for automobiles and making a meaningful impact in our community.
Fun at Dave and Busters
The Big Oak Day Program crew had a blast during their recent outing to Dave & Buster's. Last month they hit the bowling lanes, and this month they took on the arcade games. It’s truly wonderful to see everyone out in the community making great memories together.
Happy Birthday Gary
Happy 70th Birthday, Gary! Gary from the Pittsburgh Campus celebrated his milestone “Bird Day” with a fun bird-themed party and, of course, plenty of cake. Everyone had a good time wishing him a day filled with sweet memories.
National Guitar Day
Classroom 4 at Pittsburgh Campus strummed their way into National Guitar Day by making their own guitar crafts and enjoying a special visit from music therapist Jordan Higinbotham. Jordan played music for everyone and let the individuals check out her guitar. Residents also got a chance to strum and make some music of their own. This group really loves music and they were happy to have this opportunity.
Crafting Connections Class
Program Aide Ashley Sutton took three ladies from the Slippery Rock Program Center to Steeles Brushes for their Crafting Connections class. Jen B, Jen W, and Toni had a great time making a gingerbread house craft. They were all proud of their finished products. The group enjoyed lunch at the Clearview Mall after the class concluded.
Celebrating Valentines Day
Love was in the air at the Slippery Rock Program Center along with the sweet scent of cinnamon and sugar on February 13. Everyone had a great time delivering handmade Valentines to staff and peers. Some participated in Valentine games while others made Valentine's Day crafts. Ted made Jenny his Valentine by giving her a special card and a soft Valentine blanket. Everyone enjoyed a sweet Valentine's Day treat during a day full of fun and happiness.
Mardi Gras Party
Program Aide Kylie Miller held a Mardi Gras party for her area at the Slippery Rock Program Center. Everyone had a great time learning about the tradition of Mardi Gras and designing their own masks. As a sweet bonus to the event, they all enjoyed some delicious King's Cake.
