Jonathan, Cheyan, Megan, and Program Instructor Dominique Mancuso from Edward J. Zapp Center decorated the Merakey AVS Christmas tree at the Clinton Drive-thru Light Up Celebration. They enjoyed listening to Christmas music and decorating the tree together. Many of the Merakey homes enjoy driving through the light show every year as part of their holiday celebrations. The drive-thru is open to the public beginning November 23, 2024 through January 2, 2025 from 5pm-10pm.
Merakey AVS individual Jonathan and House Manager Christian Cuspard from Wildwood home cheered on the Pittsburgh Steelers as they beat the Baltimore Ravens. Go, Steelers!
Three residents from the Patricia Hillman Miller Campus went to Carnegie Library with staff members to participate in a monthly art workshop. The residents used different stamps on paper and fabric with assistance from staff. Residents did the art project with hand over hand assistance; picking out the stamps and the color they wanted, and whether to stamp onto paper and/or fabric. Staff and clients both enjoyed their trip to the inviting and creative atmosphere. The group can't wait to go back next month.
Individuals at Merakey AVS on Verree Road in Philadelphia enjoyed a fantastic event in their home to celebrate November birthdays. A magician by the name of Island Magic came to visit and did an amazing performance for all those who attended the show. The magician also included individuals in some of his performances. Everyone enjoyed the show.
David currently resides at Merakey Woodhaven with a planned transfer to the Merakey AVS campus in Philadelphia on November 25. The Merakey AVS team welcomed David for a pre-admission luncheon with his peers on November 15. David’s visit happily coincided with Animal-Assisted Therapy Day where he interacted with Leo and Meranda! As the pictures illustrate, David and Leo were delighted to meet. Leo gave David an abundance of smiles, tail wags, and cuddles, and David returned his excitement with treats.
Cheyan, Jessica, Olivia, and Tess from Malcolm home at Merakey AVS loved exploring the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh.
Liz and Janna from Oakhaven home at Merakey AVS visited the Waterfront in Pittsburgh for a day of shopping, sampling delicious treats, and exploring the lawn activities.
