What’s Happening in the IDD Division?

On October 27, Clinical Directors from Merakey’s IDD Services Karen Marshall and Michael May presented at the 20^th Annual Conference for Direct Support Professionals, in Philadelphia. Hosted by the Alliance of Community Service Providers, the conference serves to enhance the status, recognition, and professionalism of those who provide direct services and supports for the individuals we serve. Their presentation on Developing Effective and Cohesive Treatments was very well received by the attendees. Thank you, Karen and Michael, for representing Merakey and for helping your colleagues in the community to better understand effective treatments for the individuals they serve.

Mike from the Lincoln Home at Merakey AVS recently celebrated his 40^th birthday with a party, surrounded by his friends. Happy 40^th birthday, Mike!

Merakey AVS resident Kathy loves to cook and recently challenged herself to make homemade pasta. She made fresh fettuccine and gnocchi for her housemates. The diners all agreed – the pasta was excellent!

The 2nd Annual Harvest Candy Bus Sale at Merakey AVS was a sweet success. Keith worked hard making pictures and decorating the bus. He was also quite the salesman, selling loads of candy to his friends and raising approximately $600 towards campus and program activities and community outings. Several individuals dressed up for the event and enjoyed the sunshine, fresh air, and festivities.
