On Thursday, October 12, Slippery Rock Program Instructor Mary Loos and her Aide Cindy Solman took a small group to Drake Well Museum in Titusville, PA. Drake Well was built in 1859 by Colonel Edwin Drake and is known as the birthplace of the oil boom in the United States. The group was fascinated by all the equipment and enjoyed learning about our local history. Everyone liked exploring the area and had a nice picnic lunch together near the museum.
The guys from Windy Ghoul home at Merakey AVS recently enjoyed a trip to Irons Mill Farmstead for some fun fall activities.
John from the Schuylkill Mountain Center program celebrated his 60th birthday. He was so happy and smiled ear to ear as friends sang happy birthday to him.
On October 12, Merakey AVS in Central PA held their 2nd Annual Harvest Candy Bus Sale and Trunk or Treat for the individuals at Hummelstown Campus. It was a beautiful day, and everyone really got into the fun. There was a lot of joy, laughter, and even a few screams of delight as individuals received their prizes. Administrator Rene Zimmerman counted the candy revenue with our helper Keith, who was delighted to act as her assistant. A wonderful time was had by all.
Happy birthday, Brian! On Thursday, September 22, Brian from Newtown Square in Delaware County, PA celebrated his 50th birthday. For his special day, Brian requested a backyard barbeque to which he invited his friends from the Merakey Cares Group. Everyone gathered for music, games, food, and lots of laughter. Brian had two surprise guests stop by to celebrate – his cousin and a former house manager. Brian enjoyed the competitive rounds of cornhole between peers and supports. Brian had a wonderful time and thanked his team for making his birthday a momentous occasion.
