More than 100 Merakey AVS House Managers, Administrators, and other supporting staff in Western PA gathered on October 15 for a leadership event. Attendees heard several company updates followed by a special presentation by Pittsburgh native Buddy Hobart from Solutions 21. In Buddy’s presentation, Approaching the Leadership Decade, he highlighted the evolution of leadership, helped us confront our biases, and think about what it means to adapt and reframe. Buddy offered several practical strategies along with discussing the secrets to “leadership superpowers.”
The event included lunch and a chance to win baskets and prizes. The presentation was underwritten by a grant helping to engage employees throughout Merakey AVS in Western PA. Many thanks to Administrators Stacey Speer and Susan Cassidy, and to their Allegheny and Beaver County teams of consumers, managers, and staff for putting together the amazing raffle baskets!
The guys from Windy Ghoul home at Merakey AVS had a spook-tacular time at the God’s Choice Church Halloween Party.
Billy E., Billy O., and Ed from Merakey AVS Countryview home recently visited Yeck Farms in Freedom, PA. They went for a hayride, tested their strength on the mallet and bell game, and took in the beautiful fall weather. It was a wonderful autumn outing!
Slippery Rock Program Center Instructor Megan Jesteadt sent Eric and Dottie on a Community Participation Supports trip to Steele’s Brushes and Ceramics. Eric and Dottie chose to paint ceramic ghosts to decorate their homes for Halloween. They had a great time choosing their designs and painting the ceramics. Afterwards, they stopped at Go! Toys at Clearview Mall in Butler, PA. They browsed the puzzles, did a little shopping, and then enjoyed lunch at the food court. Both Dottie and Eric had a great time.
