IDD Celebrates Easter!
The individuals and staff at Merakey AVS Verree Road in Philadelphia teamed up for an egg hunt. Eggs were hidden all over the campus, and the individuals and staff were given clues on the location of the eggs. This spring activity promoted the individuals’ self-determination, leisure, functional academics, and social skills in an entertaining manner. Everyone had a lot of fun, and the individuals who gathered the most eggs won prizes.
Slippery Rock Program Center was bustling with activity last week in preparation for Easter. Groups of individuals went on small Community Participation trips to see local Easter displays. Some of the individuals made crafts, including wooden Easter Bunny centerpieces, which were especially popular. Many individuals enjoyed dyeing Easter eggs while others participated in a bunny hop physical activity. Everyone loved the special Easter treats. The variety of activities made sure there was something for everyone to enjoy.
The ladies from Merakey AVS Coleman home visited the Easter Bunny at Kraynak’s Lawn and Garden Center.
The ladies from Merakey AVS Ohioview home had a special visit from the Easter Bunny. Hilary was so excited to see him and didn’t want to let him go!
Last week, Executive Director of IDD Development in California Virginia Gabby presented at the NJACP conference in Atlantic City. She was asked to join a panel of IDD and business professionals to discuss employee retention. The panel was followed by an individual presentation and break out session on Addressing Workforce Solutions. Both sessions were well attended and received positive feedback by the participants. The IDD Division is very proud of Virginia and her ongoing contributions to Merakey!
