Merakey AVS individuals Genny and Wendy from Nolte home were joined by House Manager Susan White and her children for a day of volunteering at the Lighthouse Foundation Food Pantry in Butler, PA. They helped to clean and organize the space, while meeting new members of the community.
Slippery Rock Program Instructor Danielle Mitchell has been trying to find new places for Merakey AVS individuals to engage in community participation. After some research, Danielle found somewhere new that she thought the individuals might enjoy: the Merrick Museum in New Brighton. A few small groups enjoyed touring the museum at their own pace and they all met up later for lunch. Everyone really enjoyed seeing the artwork and displays at the museum.
Slippery Rock Program Center recently marked a milestone birthday for Merakey AVS participant, Shirley. Shirley was absolutely thrilled to turn 70, and she was so excited to celebrate with everyone. Shirley wore her birthday crown and sash with great pride. She loved receiving some small gifts along with a delicious birthday cake. Happy Birthday, Shirley!
