Tom Boyer was a dedicated teacher for the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Day Program at Merakey Woodhaven in Philadelphia for 35 years. Tom was the type of teacher that spent hours showing someone how to tie their sneakers, complete a puzzle, or go for long walks around the Woodhaven campus. Tom taught every class as if it was his last time doing so, every day, and his students appreciated his compassion, treating them as human beings.
Organized by Samantha Warner, Program Director, Tom’s team treated him to a retirement party just before the new year. Tom is now enjoying some well-deserved time off and relaxation.
