To celebrate Hispanic Heritage month (September 15 – October 15), the students from the Education and Autism Center in Harrisburg colored flags for 21 nations and learned about various Latino Legends.
The legends were from different backgrounds and included artists and performers - Carlos Santana, Shakira, and Lin-Manuel Miranda, and distinguished athletes - Lorena Ochoa and Laurie Hernandez. They also learned about trailblazers like Franklin Chang-Diaz and Gabriela Mistral. Students greatly enjoyed learning about scientists and mathematicians - Jose Hernandez and Carlos Juan Finlay, as well as activists and advocates like Cesar Chaves and Rosario Dawson.
They also learned to use their manners by saying "por favor" and "gracias."
Para celebrar el Mes de la Herencia Hispana, los estudiantes colorearon banderas de 21 naciones y aprendieron sobre leyendas latinas de diferentes países.
Las leyendas eran de diferentes orígenes como Carlos Santana, Shakira y Lin-Manuel Miranda como artistas/intérpretes hasta Lorena Ochoa y Laurie Hernandez como atletas. También aprendieron sobre algunos pioneros como Franklin Chang-Diaz y Gabriela Mistral. Los estudiantes disfrutaron aprendiendo sobre José Hermandez y Carlos Juan Finlay como científicos/matemáticos. Mis favoritos personales para aprender fueron los activistas/defensores como César Chávez y Rosario Dawson. Aprendieron a usar sus modales para decir "please" y "thank you" para asegurarse de usar sus modales.
