On October 6, the management team at Verree Road in Philadelphia held a “Celebration of Appreciation” for all Direct Support Professionals, nurses, Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professionals, and the families of individuals we support. It was a day of surprises, gifts, camaraderie, and delicious food. The managers acknowledged each employee by calling on them individually to receive a token of Merakey AVS appreciation, and to be recognized for their years of service. Staff members really enjoyed the swag bags, which contained candy, Merakey baseball T-shirts, and a blanket. During a special moment in the day, they held a memorial for all the individuals who had passed away since the onset of COVID-19 and remembered them fondly. A Philadelphia favorite, the Mummers and Quaker City String Band stopped by to celebrate by singing, dancing, and leading a short parade around the Verree Road campus. A longtime staff member expressed her appreciation,
“Being able to bring each department together to celebrate as one shows we are a family, bonded together for our love of those we serve. So, on behalf of the staff at Verree Road, we would like to say thank you for thanking us.”
Kevin, Genny, and House Manager Susan White went to Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Champion, PA for their Annual Autumn Festival. They enjoyed hiking, shopping, listening to a band, and a nice dinner together. On the way home, they stopped to visit the Flight 93 National Memorial and to pay their respects.
