Merakey AVS’s Pittsburgh Campus held a Valentine’s Day box decorating contest. This creative and fun competition had each location design a themed box with staff members voting on the winner. Congratulations to the following winners!
Merakey AVS in Western PA celebrated National Caregiver Day on February 18. More than 300 Direct Support Professionals, nurses and other frontline workers in 36 homes received a gift bag full of treats in appreciation for their hard work and dedication to the individuals at Merakey AVS. A big thank you to everyone who helped to assemble and personally deliver the bags.
National Caregiver Day honors people who provide personal care, and physical and emotional support to those who need it most. We honor our direct support professionals and recognize they may also be caregivers for family and friends. In many ways and especially at work, COVID-19 has challenged our personal connections. On this special day, we reconnected and recognized those who “wear many hats” and care for others at work and at home.
Patricia Hillman Miller Center celebrated National Caregiver Day with snacks and treats for staff throughout all shifts to thank them for putting their heart and soul into everything they do.
During the Pittsburgh Auto Show on February 19, the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix (PVGP) held its charity check presentation from the 2021 event. Last summer’s festivities raised an amazing $340,000 for Merakey Allegheny Valley School and the Autism Society of Pittsburgh, bringing their grand total to more than $6 million. Merakey AVS Ambassador Elizabeth eloquently spoke and thanked all the PVGP supporters and volunteers.
