The Supported Employment Services Team helps individuals find job opportunities that fit their schedules and enhance their lives. Supported Employment Services can help individuals achieve career goals by providing personalized support, training, and assistance to ensure successful employment outcomes.
This month, we’re spotlighting Tabby and her successful employment journey. Tabby is excited to show off her skills at her new job at Giant Eagle. She has been working as a cashier for over 5 months now and loves every minute of it. Tabby connects with customers as she is ringing them up and is known for her friendly smile. She is also helpful at putting back groceries at the end of her shift.
In the past, Tabby lived in one of Merakey’s residential homes where she received 24/7 care. Advocating for herself, she chose to move out of this setting and live independently with some help. One of these services was Supported Employment services through Merakey. Tabby works with Edward White and Krista Gearhart on her independence skills at this new site. Tabby is a great example for setting your mind to something, and having the right people in your corner, dreams can come true.
