Suzanne, a peer in services, shared a “personal medicine” that she likes to do that helps when she feels anxious: crafting – specifically making gnomes! Lori Adams, a Certified Peer Specialist (CPS), supported Suzanne and improved her confidence to present at the first CPS Personal Medicine Sharing Workshop. Suzanne has been crafting for years and wanted to share her talents with others by showing them how to make gnomes. She explained to the group how crafting assists her in maintaining her overall wellness. Suzanne and the gnomes were a big success. Participants learned a new skill and created new décor for themselves or to give to someone in their life. The team thanks Suzanne for being the first peer to kick-off this event and they look forward to the next workshop in October, “Financial education – money orders, checks, and online applications such as Venmo and Zelle to do simple banking.”
