Merakey and Police Department Launch New Co-Responder Program in Montgomery County, PA

The Adult Behavioral Health team in Montgomery County, PA is excited to be working with the Lansdale Police Department to provide behavioral health intervention, de-escalation resources, and referrals to ongoing care while reducing unnecessary use of the 911 dispatch system.

In early June, Lansdale Borough Mayor Garry Herbert announced the approval of a proposed agreement with Merakey to provide staffing for a dedicated Lansdale Police Mental Health co-responder funded by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency Grant Program. Through this program, Lansdale will be one of the first communities in Montgomery County to initiate a dedicated mental health contracted service for a police department.

Launching soon, the co-responder program is a first step in shifting the way the community helps manage and improve mental health for everyone.
