Individuals and staff from Merakey’s IDD programs in Chester and Delaware Counties joined together to form the Merakey Cares Consumer Advisory Group (MCG). The group has been volunteering in their community and helping those in need. They enjoy volunteering at the Chester County Food Bank, gathering supplies from nearby stores and donating them to the Lord's Pantry, and organizing senior boxes and color-for-smiles events. Joseph, who serves as the group's spokesperson and Roosevelt, their president, meets with the members every two weeks to talk about issues and ways to get more involved in the community. MCG hopes to fulfill their dream of opening their own pantry as another way to support others and they have started meeting with local food-donation organizations to learn more about managing a pantry.
