Each December, the students and staff at Merakey’s Education and Autism Center in Harrisburg select a topic to learn about, and then they decorate the doors in the school about that topic. This year’s theme was “Holiday Celebrations Around the World.” Students chose different countries to learn about, decorated their doors to celebrate those countries, and taught their peers and teachers about their holiday customs. The students learned about Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, and United States. Each door included the country's flag and symbols celebrating the different traditions. Some doors even displayed different ways to say Merry Christmas, like "Frohe Weihnachten" or ”メリークリスマス."
