Slippery Rock Program Instructors Cindy Solman and Nikita Flowers wanted to visit a zoo in a new area, so they headed north to Erie. Once they settled, they spent several days taking small groups to the Erie Zoo. Everyone enjoyed seeing all the animals and having a picnic lunch there. Many people have enjoyed exploring different areas during Certified Peer Specialist trips. Slippery Rock Program Instructors have risen to the challenge of finding new places for the individuals to visit and engage in local communities. It’s a win-win for the instructors and participants as everyone gets to broaden their horizons and experience new areas.
Slippery Rock Program Instructors Megan Jesteadt, Caleb Holland, and Christie Roxberry transformed the back areas of Slippery Rock Program Center into a Hawaiian oasis. Everyone donned grass skirts and leis to get into the festive spirit. Individuals made Hawaiian crafts, learned about the state of Hawaii, and enjoyed Hawaiian-themed food. Many people had fun during the hula contest. It was a great way to end the month of August.
