Slippery Rock Program Instructor Danielle Mitchell took a small group to the Southern Park Mall to go shopping. Once they did a bit of shopping, everyone loved playing the many games at the mall such as ping pong, bean bag toss, and a large Connect Four game. Louis especially loved trying the life-sized dog. They all had a great time.
The individuals and staff at Merakey AVS Snyder I home have been busy this spring and summer planting and taking care of their garden. They have been growing vegetables, herbs, and flowers. The group is very proud that their hard work has blossomed into a bounty!
It’s always nice when different programs can come together for events. New Ventures Day Program and Penn Hills Day Program recently got together to have a joint picnic. They enjoyed dancing, playing bingo, and a yummy lunch!
Penn Hills Day Program had a great time at the Pirates Game, especially because the Buccos brought home a win! As they say in Pittsburgh, LET’S GO BUCS!
Genny and House Manager Susan explored all things pickled at the Picklesburgh Festival in Pittsburgh.
Volunteers from Our Lady of Grace Church continued their summer tradition of making funnel cakes for individuals and employees at Merakey AVS’s Pittsburgh Campus. Everyone was thrilled to enjoy the homemade treat!
The Spring 2024 Miracle League season wrapped up in June. All Merakey AVS players from the Moon and Cranberry fields were presented with a trophy for their hard work this season. Thank you to the many staff members, volunteers, and fans who cheered on the athletes each week and helped to make the games memorable. We’re looking forward to the Fall 2024 season!
Pittsburgh Campus Music Therapists Denise Noel and Jordan Higinbotham brought holiday cheer to the individuals and staff with a Christmas in July concert. The afternoon was filled with wonderful singing and music, lots of laughter, and crowd participation in many of the songs.
The new Enhanced Behavior Support Home, Merakey Kingdom, in Sheridan, CA hosted a successful open house on July 25. The large turnout included members of Alta California Regional Center and the Department of Developmental Service.
Thanks To Nurse Supervisor Maureen Green, staff and individuals enjoyed an evening under the stars watching Disney's Aladdin along with the Philadelphia Orchestra. The music sounded beautiful, and everyone enjoyed themselves.
Michael from Merakey AVS Lincoln home and staff member Jason have been enjoying weekly fishing trips to Brady’s Run Park in Beaver County, PA.
Merakey AVS on Verree Road in Philadelphia celebrated the start of the 2024 Paris Olympics with staff and individuals playing bingo and Olympic Scrabble. Everyone gathered to watch the opening ceremony and enjoyed seeing the athletes from different countries floating down the Seine River.
