Individuals from Patricia Hillman Miller Campus visited residents of Broadhead Group home on Tuesday, June 4. During the visit, Recreation Instructor Katie West worked with everyone on painting stepping stones to place in their gardens at home. After painting, the individuals enjoyed playing instruments with Music Therapist Rachael Kovaly.
Happy Birthday, Shirley! Shirley celebrated her big day with a special dinner, cake, and presents with her friends and staff.
Merakey AVS participants Janna and Liz recently visited the Aviary in Pittsburgh to explore one of their animal encounter experiences. Both Janna and Liz held and fed a Rainbow Lorikeet. Both ladies really enjoyed this experience and Janna commented with surprise, “Was the bird really walking on my arm?” She also shared that she could hear how loud the birds were and asked many great questions about the Lorikeet. Janna and Liz both look forward to future animal encounters at the Aviary.
On June 12, several individuals from Slippery Rock Program Center went fishing on Lake Erie on a charter boat through At the Lake Ministries. Since it was a beautiful day, the water was smooth, and they were able to venture further out onto the lake than they had last year. There was lots of excitement and proud moments as they reeled in their fish. Everyone had a great time.
Individuals and staff from Slippery Rock Program Center went to Grove City for the Strawberry Days Festival on Friday, June 7. Everyone enjoyed wandering through Grove City Park looking at the displays. Many participated in games of chance and of course, everyone indulged in strawberry treats.
It was a great evening for a swim at The Newtown Athletic Club, when they closed its water park to the general public for people with special needs this week. Everyone enjoyed themselves while relaxing in the water and listening to music.
