Recently the Northern CA IDD Clinical Team met for an in-person meeting for team collaboration and support. After their office meeting, they celebrated Blair Greenberg’s 2-year Merakey anniversary and welcomed Northern California’s newest Executive Director, Melanie Gonzales, to the Merakey team.

Lauren Irwin is a dedicated full-time member of the Staff Development team where she works as a Medication Administration Facilitator in our IDD program at Merakey. Over the past three years, Lauren has demonstrated exceptional commitment and achieved remarkable milestones
Lauren's contributions have been nothing short of outstanding. She has successfully streamlined the medication administration training at 4700 and Chester County, leading to minimal to no citations during licensing visits. This achievement reflects her diligence, expertise, and dedication to maintaining high standards of care within our programs.
What makes Lauren's achievements even more impressive is her multitasking abilities. While excelling in her role as a facilitator, Lauren also worked part-time as a DSP in IDD programs in Hummelstown, PA. Additionally, she pursued further education by enrolling in Harrisburg Area Community College's Nursing Program in the Spring of 2021.
On May 7, 2024, Lauren graduated from nursing school with an outstanding GPA of 3.9. Her academic excellence has been recognized through various accolades and the following award: Lancaster Faculty Nursing Leadership award, Alpha Delta Nu Nursing Honor Society Award, and the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society Award. Lauren's involvement doesn't stop there; she also serves as the Treasurer and Secretary of Phi Theta Kappa.

Individuals and staff from Merakey AVS’s Philadelphia Campus enjoyed an evening at the movies at AMC Theater in the Philadelphia Mills Mall. Everyone shared many laughs as they watched Kung Fu Panda 4.

On May 4, Slippery Rock Program Instructor Megan Kober had an intergalactic space battle with her individuals for May the Fourth Be With You Day. The individuals made light sabers out of pool noodles and had fun re-enacting scenes from Star Wars.
On Thursday, May 2, Slippery Rock Program Aide Ashley Sutton took a small group to McDanel’s Launch at Moraine State Park to go fishing. They didn’t end up catching anything but some rays of sun, but everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather out on the lake.
On Friday, May 3, Slippery Rock Program Instructor Danielle Mitchell’s area celebrated Cinco de Mayo a little early. The individuals made a pinata which they had fun breaking. They also made and enjoyed mock Margaritas out in the sensory garden. It was a great fiesta!
Twanda from Franklin Fulton recently celebrated her birthday with her roommates and her staff. Happy birthday, Twanda!
On May 9, individuals from the IDD program in High Point Dubois, PA participated in a Special Olympics event in Brookville, PA. Everyone had a fantastic experience being a part of this special day.
