Cinco de Mayo Party
Slippery Rock Program Instructor Cindy Solman hosted a Cinco de Mayo party on May 5. The individuals learned about Mexico, made some Mexican themed crafts and enjoyed cheesecake sopapillas as a special treat. They had a great time learning about and celebrating the day.
Gone Fishing
The Windy Ghoul crew has been out enjoying spring days at their favorite fishing spots. This group really enjoys getting outside and practicing their fishing skills. Congratulations to Lucas for reeling in the biggest catch of the day!
Lava Lamp Experiment
Slippery Rock Program Instructor Christie Laderer led her area in an experiment making lava lamps. The individuals chose food coloring to color some water in a tall glass sitting on a lighted platform, to which they added vegetable oil followed by an Alka Seltzer tablet. Everyone enjoyed watching the bubbles form, fizz, and then move to the top of the glass. It was a fun way to make science come to life.
Congrats Corey Peterson
Corey Peterson recently received an award from Pennsylvania Head Start during their state conference. Associate Director Brandie Cool expressed warm words of support for Corey:
"Corey was invited to speak at the Pennsylvania Head Start Association’s state conference as part of a larger effort to ground attendees in the real-life impact of their work with children and families. His story powerfully illustrates how Head Start supported his family during a time of domestic violence, ultimately helping to change the trajectory of his mother’s life and future. Through his experience, Corey highlights that Head Start is not only an early childhood program, but a comprehensive support system that strengthens entire families and communities. His willingness to share his story provides an authentic and compelling example that strengthens advocacy efforts and helps others understand the lasting impact of this work".

Keystone Safari
The guys from Merakey Hookstown recently visited Keystone Safari and enjoyed spending the day interacting with the many animals in the park.
