Emily's Job
Emily, an individual who receives supports at the Slippery Rock Program Center, has been working at Fudgy Wudgy chocolate shop at the Prime Outlets in Grove City for about 2 years. She previously worked at Slippery Rock Pet Grooming for several years until the owner retired and had found that job as part of Merakey's Transformation project.
Emily knew she wanted to continue working, so she took the initiative to apply for several jobs in the area. She was excited to get the job at the chocolate shop.
Emily helps make and package the chocolate at the shop. She typically works 2-3 days a week. Her supervisor, Jason, is pleased with her work. According to Jason, "Emily always gives 100% at her job." Emily also continues to volunteer a few days a week at the Storm Harbor Equestrian Center at Slippery Rock University. Emily loves to stay busy and is living her life to the fullest.
Hoyt Arts
A couple of small groups from the Slippery Rock Program Center met in passing during trips at Hoyt Arts in New Castle. One group was leaving as the other was entering. They did stop to take a few group pictures before going their separate ways. Both groups enjoyed the many displays. Some people liked the bright colors of the Modern Art displays. Others enjoyed the American Innovation Tour that displayed how rooms were decorated long ago. It was a good trip full of learning and fun.
Maritime Museum
The ladies from the Oregon Road SFR near Slippery Rock enjoyed a day trip to Lake Erie and visited the Maritime Museum while they were in the area. The ladies liked all the different displays. A couple of them were fascinated by the Battle of Lake Erie. After they finished exploring the museum, the ladies strolled near the lake to look at the water and enjoy the beautiful day. They stopped for lunch, then spent a little more time enjoying the sights. It was a welcome reprieve from the daily routine.
