Performing Together

A communications group from Zapp Center hosted a special Valentine’s Day performance at Caring Heights Community Care and Rehab. Several members of the group were part of the original crew that visited prior to the pandemic, making this return especially meaningful. After so much time away, everyone was excited to reconnect with friends at Caring Heights, and newer members were thrilled to experience the visit for the very first time.

The program included a performance of “L-O-V-E” in American Sign Language, heartfelt poems shared by Olive and Megan, and a festive raffle featuring a tote filled with flowers and Terrible Towel swag. The celebration continued with a cookie social, where residents enjoyed treats specially prepared by the Food Prep Program. It was a joyful, heartwarming experience for all involved, and many are already looking forward to the next visit.

National Caregivers Day

The individuals at the Slippery Rock Program Center celebrated National Caregivers Day on February 20 by holding a drawing for gift cards for the staff. Joan was excited to go to her peers and have each of them draw a name. Everyone loved being involved and were excited for the winners. They enjoyed being able to bring joy to the people who help them every day.

Aquaponics

A crew from the Slippery Rock Program Center helped at the Growing Together Aquaponics Center in Butler County, PA. They enjoyed the hands-on work of measuring pH levels, planting, and harvesting microgreens. They also liked helping feed the fish. This crew assists the Aquaponics Center once a month and is one of their favorite activities.

Celebrating Mardi Gras

The individuals and staff at the Kennedy Program Center kept their Mardi Gras tradition alive with a festive parade, colorful decorations and attire, lively noise makers, and of course, King Cake!

PGH Campus Valentines Dance

The Valentine’s Dance has become a cherished tradition at Merakey AVS’s Pittsburgh Campus. Everyone enjoyed an evening filled with dancing, singing, fun photo backdrops, and delicious refreshments, making it a celebration to remember.

Counting Olympic Medals

For the past couple of weeks, Mike L. has been keeping the Slippery Rock Program Center informed about the medal count for several countries during the 2026 Winter Olympics. Every day, he updated the board that the area created with medals that listed the event it represented. Mike is an avid sports fan and loves to share his knowledge with others.
