Dressed in festive attire, individuals from Merakey AVS in Allegheny and Beaver Counties gathered for the annual Holiday Party held at Sheraton Inn in Moon Township, PA. Guests danced, had a delicious lunch, and partied with their peers to a soundtrack of the holidays. Special guest appearances were made by Frosty the Snowman and Santa Claus, who delivered a gift to each person at the party.
Many thanks to the programming staff from Edward J. Zapp and Kennedy Centers who organized the holly jolly event!
On December 12, Patricia Hillman Miller Campus (PHMC) residents Lizzie, JR, Valerie, James, Robert, and Devon went to the Neville Roller Drome to participate in their first Sensory Skate session. JR, Robert, Val, James, and Lizzie enjoyed zipping around the rink while staff skated along with them. After a few laps, Devon suggested he would rather listen to the music and cheer the others on as they skated. Everyone had a blast skating the night away and can't wait for the next trip!
Mark, Sharon, and Roni from Pittsburgh Campus along with staff members Roman Jones and Elke Durso visited local community partners to show Merakey AVS’s support of their friendship. They stopped at Al’s Service, Ryan’s Auto, and the Robinson EMS to deliver cookies, Terrible Towels®, ornaments, and appreciation cards. It was a great day. Everyone really enjoys giving back to the local businesses that help Merakey during the year. The group will make stops at the Robinson Township Police and Forest Grove Fire Station soon. Thank you to all our community partners!
The Penn Hills Day Program never lets a little inclement weather get in the way of fun. If outside fun isn’t an option, the next best thing is to find fun indoors. Chris and Danny did exactly that when they enjoyed a trip to the local gym to play some afternoon basketball.
