The Ladies from Ewings Mill II at Merakey AVS had a wonderful visit at Nutcracker Village in Steubenville, Ohio. They were excited to see all the Nutcrackers, vendors, and light displays.
The individuals from Merakey’s IDD program in Lehigh Valley, PA recently celebrated the upcoming Christmas holiday with a party at the Kiwanis Club. Individuals and staff enjoyed a festive night of eating delicious treats, opening gifts, taking photos with Santa Claus, and dancing with friends. Everyone had a jolly good time!
Everyone from Merakey AVS’s Slippery Rock Program Center is getting into the holiday spirit; working harder than Santa’s elves making cookies, reading Christmas stories, and decorating. Individuals and staff members have done an incredible job transforming their program areas into festive Christmas scenes, making it difficult to judge for “best decorations”. Each area selected a theme to decorate, such as Christmas Candyland, Santa’s Workshop, Walking Through the Woods on a Snowy Evening, Nutcracker Suite, The Polar Express, and Snowman Land. The Physical Therapy Area also participated and created scenes from the beloved classic, “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.” Santa will surely be impressed when he visits later this month.
Other areas at Merakey AVS have been going on special outings to Kraynak’s Santa Christmas land in Hermitage, PA to see the holiday displays and enjoy festive meals.
Pastor Joe and a few families from Ascension Lutheran Church in Robinson Township, PA visited the Pittsburgh Campus Brick House for a holiday celebration. The families sang Jingle Bells and I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas and gave personalized gifts to each person in the home. Everyone sang, danced and enjoyed a merry good time. Special thanks to Ascension Lutheran Church for helping to make the holidays brighter for residents at the Brick House.
