Slippery Rock Program Instructor Danielle Mitchell took a small group to the Oakmont Bakery. Everyone enjoyed seeing all the different goodies. Each person was able to choose and purchase a small treat to enjoy. The hard part was deciding which delectable treat to choose.
Slippery Rock Program Center has been feeling the love. Program Instructor Megan Kober and her Aide Christie Laderer worked with their class in designing and making Valentine hearts. Each heart reflected the personality of the person making it. Everyone had fun making the hearts and they look forward to handing them out on Valentine’s Day.
A surprise 40th Anniversary reception was held for Program Director Jan Harvilla. Individuals and employees from the Zapp and Kennedy Centers and many of Jan’s longtime Western PA co-workers joined the festivities. Individuals from the Zapp Food Prep area made two cakes for all to enjoy, and many contributed to a beautiful heart painting that was given to Jan as a gift. A slideshow of events happening in the world 40 years ago and pictures of Jan throughout the years played as the guests honored the special occasion.
Development and Community Engagement Manager and Jan’s daughter Amy Rocini commented “WOW! The celebration for my mom was incredible. One could feel the energy in and love throughout the room. Thank you to everyone who helped to prepare the surprise for Jan.”
