Merakey AVS held its 32nd Annual Golf Open at Chartiers Country Club in Pittsburgh on September 18. Thank you to Rick Mongiovi of Mongiovi & Son, and Dan Taylor of Dan Taylor Interiors, Inc., for co-chairing the event!

Members of the Merakey AVS Pittsburgh Campus Choir kicked off the day by singing "The Star-Spangled Banner.” Thank you to Samantha, Shawnn, Mark, Sharon, Kristy, and Kim for sharing your signing talents with us.

There were several other highlights from the day including a hole-in-one made by Jay Ray! Congratulations Jay for sinking the shot on hole #16 (which was also the closest to the pin contest). Jay, his team, and many others witnessed this grand accomplishment! During dinner, Jay was awarded with the flag on #16 from Pro Joe Klinchock.

Remarks were also made by Merakey’s CEO Joe Martz, Senior VP of IDD Services Elise Tretola and Merakey Foundation Board member Dorothy Pollon. With a Steelers home game that evening, The Terrible Towel twirl was led by Dorothy Pollon and Elizabeth Cope.

During dinner CentiMark received the 2023 AVS CHAMPion award for its support of Merakey AVS and other Merakey programs since 2006. CentiMark’s Manager of Public Relations Kathy Slencak accepted the CHAMPion award and shared some remarks. Merakey AVS is incredibly grateful to CentiMark for their kindness and compassion to the people supported and to Merakey’s employees…Congratulations CentiMark!

The event raised more than $110,000 to help M/AVS provide and maintain high quality and safe living, working, and learning environments while expanding and adapting its programs. M/AVS sincerely thanks co-chairs Rick and Dan and to the many sponsors, underwriters, golfers, supporters, volunteers, and employees who helped to make the event such a success.
