On Tuesday, August 27 the Mental Health Outpatient Program in Southeastern PA held a graduation at 27 E. Mt. Airy Avenue in Philadelphia. Fifteen Therapists and four Clinical Supervisors graduated from the Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) training program provided by the University of Pennsylvania’s Beck Community Initiative. This cohort was comprised of staff across Merakey Philadelphia’s four Mental Health Outpatient clinics and required 22 hours of live training and 6 months of continuous clinical consultation. This training ensures Merakey consumers will have access to the most widely researched evidence-based practice in the world and provides a foundational clinical model for mental health outpatient programs in Southeastern PA. Starting in September, a second cohort of therapists will begin CBT training to further expand this fundamental evidence-based practice.
