EBSH-CA Nurse Director Marilou Malvar and SoCal RN Manager April Radovich from Merakey in San Marcos, CA recently visted programs in Sacromento with Psychiatrist Dr. Rachit Patel. The in-person visit focused on strengthening psychiatric care and supporting the teams who work closely with the individuals we serve. During the visit Dr. Patel met with the individuals, nurses, BCBAs, Program Administrators, and Direct Support Professionals. These face-to-face conversations gave everyone an opportunity to review current concerns, and consider how medical, behavioral, and environmental factors affect each person's well-being.
The visit brought psychiatry beyond the medical chart. Staff were able to ask questions, share observations, and work together on practical recommendations for follow-up care. Most importantly, the visit reflected what teamwork should look like. Good psychiatric care is not limited to prescribing medication. It requires careful observation, open communication, and collaboration with the team. Thank you, Dr. Patel, for spending time with our Sacramento programs and to every team member who helped organize the visit, prepared thoughtful clinical updates, and participated in the discussions. Your dedication helped make each consultation focused, productive, and meaningful. Let us continue to provide person-centered care, one conversation, one observation and one individual at a time.
