In 1970, the Autism Society launched a nationwide effort to promote autism awareness and assure that all affected by autism are able to achieve the highest quality of life possible. Today, National Autism Acceptance Month seeks to spread awareness, promote recognition, and ignite change.
World Autism Acceptance Day, also known as World Autism Day or World Autism Awareness Day, is observed annually on April 2. Adopted by the United Nations on December 18, 2007, the purpose of this day is to raise awareness and promote acceptance of people with autism spectrum disorder (A.S.D.). It also presents an opportunity to tear down misconceptions and false notions about disability.
💙 Wear Blue on April 3 in Recognition of World Autism Acceptance Day! 💙
Since April 2 is a Sunday this year, we are recognizing World Autism Acceptance Day by wearing blue on Monday, April 3. At Merakey, we support everyone to successfully thrive in their communities by providing exceptional care across the country! Take some photos while wearing blue and send them to communications@merakey.org, and you may be featured in the Pulse and on social media!
