On May 2, Merakey participated in the Community Support Program's Annual Mental Health Awareness Walk. This was the 15th walk held in the community and over 225 people attended. Every year, the group participates in a walk from Letort Park to the square in Carlisle, PA for speaches from officals and those with lived experience. This year, two individuals from Merakey’s Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center and a Peer Specialist from the Common Ground program were among the speakers as well as OMHSAS Deputy Secretary, County Commissioners and county mental health staff. Employees and leadership from our BSU (Base Service Unit), Supported Living, Peer Support, and Psychiatric Rehabilitation programs were present as well.
