There are moments that forever change a community. The tragic loss of Joanne Beauvais was one of those moments for our Merakey family. Joanne's passing left an immeasurable void in the hearts of her colleagues, friends, and the students whose lives she touched. While her life ended far too soon, her legacy continues to live on every day. Recently, our Scranton team shared a heartfelt note about the memorial bench dedicated in Joanne's honor. Painted in a vibrant, brilliant red – just like Joanne's bright spirit, infectious energy, and the warmth she brought to everyone around her – the bench has become much more than a place to sit. It has become a place to remember. Each day, staff and students gather there to rest, reflect, and reconnect. More importantly, it naturally sparks conversations about Joanne – her kindness, her leadership, her laughter, and the countless ways she made Merakey a better place.

As one team member shared:

"Each time I walk past it, I'm reminded of my boss and friend, and it brings such comfort. Our staff and students use it often, and it naturally sparks conversations about Joanne and the impact she had on all of us. Thank you, truly, for this meaningful tribute."

While we wish Joanne were still with us, we are grateful that her memory continues to inspire those who knew her. The bright red bench stands as a beautiful reminder that a life lived with compassion, joy, and purpose leaves a legacy that endures long after we are gone. Joanne will always have a place in our hearts, and now she has a special place where future conversations, quiet moments, and cherished memories will continue to keep her spirit alive.
