Showing Excellence During Virtual Learning
The pandemic has changed how a lot of Merakey’s programs provide services, including at our Autism Schools. The use of technology to continue providing a quality education in a virtual environment was quickly implemented, and understandably, created challenges for both students and teachers.
Those challenges, however, didn’t stop Kenya, a student from Merakey’s Education and Autism Center in Altoona from moving forward with her education. She fully embraced the technology and learning in the “new normal.” In fact, Kenya excelled in the last quarter of the school year and continued to display excellence during the Center’s Extended School Year program during the summer. Kenya’s teacher praised her for bringing a positive attitude to all of her learning sessions, and was pleased to report that her attendance during virtual learning sessions was nearly 100%!
