What do you do if you want a Tropical Island Getaway? You imagine and create your very own paradise!
With the ingenuity of more than 500 individuals and staff members from Merakey Allegheny Valley School’s Pittsburgh Campus, and generous support from the Walter F. and Ellen H. Nicoden Fund of The Pittsburgh Foundation, the Hawaiian themed celebration was complete with beautiful weather, home-made decorations, Elvis, a smoking volcano, a pig roast, delicious food and drinks, music, dancing and games.
Kristy Fuller, Director of Program Services said, “This was a collaboration of Programming and Residential Departments.” Program Instructor Sue Hensley acknowledged that after a long time away from each other, everyone was excited to see their friends.
Each home paid special attention to details and made this a fun-filled event! Aloha!
