After a successful 30-day review of a seven-year-old in our Dual Diagnosis Treatment Team program in Bellefontaine, OH, staff from Merakey and the Sandusky County Board of Developmental Disabilities volunteered to transform his bedroom into a safe space/sensory room. The teams, along with the consumer’s grandmother, painted his room together during the school day. When he came home from school, he was surprised to find a new space to utilize when he became overwhelmed. Not only did the consumer get a new space, but the team had a chance to communicate with the family outside of formal meetings. This was a relationship building opportunity as well as a chance to implement behavioral support in the home.
Great job to the DDTT in Bellefontaine and thank you to the Sundusky County Board of Developmental Disabilities for putting your heart and soul into exceptional services.
