WE'RE HIRING!

Merakey Allegheny Valley School will be participating in the Miracle League of Moon Township and the Miracle League of Southwestern PA in Cranberry this summer!

The Miracle League fields are opening in 2021! The games will look a bit different this year as our teams will be reserving time on the field to play ball with their home bubble. We are looking forward to seeing and cheering on the participants who come up to bat this summer.

The field in Moon Township had its grand opening on May 15, with youth league games and the Pirate Parrot mascot visiting with guests. Merakey AVS was invited to attend the kick-off to the season. Self-advocate Elizabeth (Liz) Humphrey was interviewed by the Pittsburgh Pirates and AT&T. Liz shared her excitement about playing ball this year, and that putting on the team jersey makes her feel like a professional player! Liz’s housemates Crystal, Megan, Michael and staff members Tammy Sayre and Morgan Rickman joined her at the opening to experience the new field and facilities first-hand. Thanks are also due to Assistant Regional Executive Director Roni Erath for joining in on the fun, and for being interviewed and sharing how much M/AVS is looking forward to playing in a league so close to home.

Individuals and staff members from the Patricia Hillman Miller Campus and the following homes are participating at the Moon field: Barclay, Clinton, Evergreen, Ewings Mill I, Ewings Mill II, Hookstown, Malcolm, Maratta, Nyetimber, Wildwood and Wiltshire.

Swing by the Moon Park (1350 Ewing Road, Moon Township) to see M/AVS in action beginning June 1. M/AVS will be on the field from 4-7 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and from 2-5 PM on Thursdays.

A few teams will be playing in Cranberry Township in the Miracle League of Southwestern PA – they are…Ohioview, Willow Acres and Windy Ghoul. Dates and times for this league are to be determined. Games for this league are held at the Graham Park (260 Graham Park, Cranberry Township).

We are grateful to all the house managers and staff members who will be helping to make each game a special night out for the participants. Come out to cheer on the teams!
