On Friday, October 1, Vice President of Adult Behavioral Health Services in Southeastern PA and Senior Executive Director of Addiction Services, Josh Vigderman participated in a panel discussion called “Supporting Vulnerable Populations & Building Stronger Communities: An Exploration of Law Enforcement & Mental Health Partnerships” at the Philadelphia B.PHL Innovation Fest.
Malcolm and Josh were joined by Leslie Richards, General Manager, SEPTA and Thomas J. Nestel III, Chief of Transit Police for SEPTA to discuss how Merakey Parkside Recovery and the SEPTA police force are partnering to help individuals facing housing insecurity and other issues to gain access to addiction recovery and mental health services, community resources and other necessities. The virtual attendees at the event discovered how this important program was developed, what Merakey and Septa have learned from each other through their work in the community, and how this partnership is expected to evolve in the future.
